A worthy cause.
One of the benefits of doing what we do is that we often get to work on exciting projects. What’s even better is when we work on causes that we can really get behind.
Recently, we were lucky enough to work with the team at the [Motivational Corner](Motivational Corner) and lead the charge on building their website.
First, a little about who they are. Here’s an excerpt from their about page:
In society today, youth are often too afraid to take a risk, try something new, or quite frankly don’t have the motivation to go out and achieve something great. People are afraid to be audacious, or lack tenacity because they continuously get the idea of failure drilled into their brains.
People often say, “You cannot do that,” or, “You will fail,” implying that there are limits to any given person’s potential. We not only know this to be false from our interview subjects, but believe Napoleon Hill said it best when he stated, "There are no limitations to the mind except those we acknowledge”.
We at Hatch couldn’t agree more.
Sadly, we live in a society where people (especially youth) are labelled as failures if they don’t fit into the traditional mould. This is visible right through from schools to adulthood.
Fortunately for the founders of Hatch, we have people surrounding us that have continually supported us throughout our journey. The reality is, however, that a lot of people don’t. Given our experiences, this is an issue that we are passionate about and we were really happy to be working on something with a purpose greater than money.
Let’s get started
Asher Meltzer from the Motivational Corner approached us early this year and sold us on his idea. With such a good cause in mind, we couldn’t not get behind it. The only problem - we had only a few weeks to go from nothing to fully designed, interactive and visually attractive websites.
After many rapid design iterations, we came up with this:
We really wanted to keep the website minimalistic. The content is really what makes this website stand out and we didn’t want to overshadow it with flashy design elements.
We also had the challenge of making sure that the website was able to handle different formats of content. At this stage, it has three types:
- Text interviews
- Soundcloud audio interviews
- Vimeo video interviews
Similarly, the about page is also very simple and sums up the vision of the Motivational Corner in a nice, concise few paragraphs. It looks like:
We’re really excited to see where the Motivational Corner goes from here. Asher has some really exciting plans for the future. Plans, which will undoubtedly inspire youth all over New Zealand.
