We’ve had the absolute pleasure over the past 3 weeks to work on something that’s a little different from what we usually do here at Hatch.
Our lovely friends at Truly & Madly are soon to be releasing a printed wedding planning book and we have been lucky enough to work alongside them. We are super excited and can’t wait for you guys to get your hands on it!
I have been chipping away at illustrations which will appear in and on the cover of the book. It’s been awesome to be able to get down and dirty again (with paint). Now I won’t give too much away - but here’s a sneak peak as to what’s been going on:
My days have consisted of doodling, splatting, swishing, swooshing, shading and outlining; and I have loved every minute of it.
I used the same materials for all the illustrations to keep them consistent. I wanted to keep them soft and organic to match Truly & Madly’s existing aesthetic; so we went for watercolours and Indian ink on textured paper.
Above is a cheeky peek at some of the raw pencil illustrations. There were stacks of watercolour paintings, sketches and other assorted bits and bobs which were then pulled together in photoshop to create the final pieces.
I won’t give away anymore! It has been awesome working on this with Sony and her team at Truly & Madly and we are SO excited for it to be released. We will keep you guys in the loop, but keep an eye on their Facebook page as well as for more info! Anyway, it’s back to coding for me now!
